Licenced Lay Minister
Jacki and Mike work well together as a committed team, complementing one another. They have added an extra dimension to our worship and we have been enriched by Jacki’s doctoral studies of hospital chaplaincy enhancing her sermons. She has recently published a book “Salt in a Secular Society” which brings out Jacki’s spiritual insights, she is also great at ‘compassionate listening’ and supporting others
“I am passionate about helping people to become the person God made them to be. Through preaching and leading services I seek to help our congregation to understand God’s word, realize the relevance for themselves today and inspire them to put their faith into practice. I’ve drawn on my experience – as an LLM since 1991, as a Spiritual Director, as a hospice chaplain (now retired) and from my doctoral research. . It is a privilege to preach and lead services but when not preparing to do so I’m on the golf course, swimming or gardening. I also love music and reading and have enjoyed writing my book which I hope will help people find God in everyday life.”
A note about Licenced Lay Ministers (LLMs) : LLMs are trained and licensed by the Church to preach, teach, lead worship and assist in pastoral care. They take funerals, and undertake evangelistic as well as liturgical work. They officiate at “Communion by Extension”, conduct wedding dedications (after a civil marriage has been conducted) and in an emergency conduct a Baptism with the permission of the Bishop.
